‘Avenue Q’ gets rave review, strong sendoff to Great Lakes theatre regionals

Wearegreenbay.com Critic-at-Large had additional praise for UW-Green Bay’s production of Avenue Q, the Musical Tuesday (Jan. 7), lauding the show as “smart, well made and absorbing from start to finish.” Gerds’ review, which comes a month and a half after he first wrote about the production during its November run, was based on Monday night’s special fundraiser show at the Weidner Center. (Nearly 200 people turned out on a frigid night — 18-below — for the bonus performance.) As we’ve told you here recently, the Monday showing of Avenue Q serves as a warm-up for the cast, crew and directorial team members who are headed to the American College Theatre Festival in Saginaw, Mich. later this week. “UWGB’s production of ‘Avenue Q’ is notable for its depth of cast and degree of difficulty,” Gerds writes. “Plus, the material is sensational. The performances in November were a hot ticket in Green Bay.” Full review: http://www.wearegreenbay.com/1fulltext-news/critic-at-large/d/1fulltext-news/Y8HHaPsMQk6Ghl1DgkRBDA
