Nielsen reflects on Helen Keller

A bronze statue of Helen Keller was unveiled Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol, recognizing her efforts on behalf of people with disabilities. But that’s only a sliver of Keller’s story. Kim Nielsen, UW-Green Bay professor of Social Change and Development and author of several books on Keller including The Radical Lives of Helen Keller was interviewed for Thursday’s “Democracy Now,” a daily TV/radio news program. Nielsen shared her insight into Keller’s efforts on behalf of not just those with disabilities, but also feminists and working people. View the interview.

In addition, South Dakota Public Radio and WSKY of Gainesville, Fla. have also interviewed Nielsen. On Sunday (Oct. 11) Nielsen’s doing a live interview with KPFA, a radio station from Berkeley, Cal.
