Campus beefs up security with texting

UW-Green Bay has continued to enhance its safety and security measures as the 2009-10 school year gets under way, the Press-Gazette reports. Reporter Kelly McBride included in her article about campus safety the fact that UW-Green Bay added emergency text messaging to its emergency communications toolbox over the summer. The service, called GB Alert, is opt-in only and is free (unless cell phone plans require payment for incoming text messages). It will only be used in the event of an emergency.
