Press-Gazette editorial praises Weidner, prospects for future success

The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts is poised for future success, according to an editorial published Sunday (July 21) in the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The piece comes on the heels of the announcement of the Weidner’s 2013-14 Performing Arts Season, a lineup that includes more Broadway, more family entertainment and a wide range of comedy, dance and seasonal favorites, among other shows. The Weidner finished last season in the black, the editorial notes, attendance is up and community access is expanding. Weidner Center Executive Director Kate Green credits Chancellor Tom Harden with initiating the Weidner’s turnaround, and community input has been critical from the get-go. As well as tangible economic impacts, the editorial notes, “the arts have intangible benefits on the quality of life in a community, whether it’s pure entertainment or a performance that makes you think.” Read more.
