The $70 billion state budget is on its way to Gov. Scott Walker, after the state Senate narrowly approved the spending plan shortly after midnight Friday (June 21). The budget includes a UW System-wide tuition freeze, as well as a $52 million GPR/fee reduction Systemwide, and a one-time Systemwide budget lapse. The state Senate passed the budget 17-16 at 12:10 a.m., and it now heads to Walker, who has said he intends to sign the budget (possibly exercising his line-item veto power) into law by July 1.
