Kauth helping with local start-up for ‘1 Million Cups’

UW-Green Bay lecturer Ryan Kauth (Cofrin School of Business) is helping start a local chaper of “1 Million Cups.” Haven’t heard of it? Hope is that it will become a community that connects entrepreneurs, small business owners and inventors. The Green Bay Press-Gazette has the story. Here is an excerpt:

“What can we, as a community, do to help you?”

It’s the question that drives 1 Million Cups, a program developed by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in 2012 and brought to Appleton in 2015. Next in line is a new chapter in Green Bay (1millioncups.com/greenbay).

Mark Burwell, executive director in residence of E-Hub in Green Bay and one of the biggest fans of the program, has devoted hundreds of volunteer hours and played an instrumental role in establishing local chapters. His interest developed as he saw the success of other chapters.

Scheduled for an April 11 launch at Rise and Grind Green Bay on the third floor of the downtown library, Burwell has been working with local organizers including Ryan Kauth, lecturer of entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

“I learned about the program several years ago and originally thought it would be great to expose UWGB students to because it helps them make connections, which in turn helps them build their networks,” Kauth explained.
