ESPN analyst says UW-Green Bay among nation’s best stories, mid-year

College basketball analyst Graham Hays has a “Checking in at the midway point” column online this week at ESPN.com, and he lists the 13-0 Phoenix women’s team as one of this season’s top stories.  Not because they’re a surprise — “the Phoenix hasn’t had a losing season since Jimmy Carter was in the White House,” he writes — but because they’re doing it without last year’s senior stars, Kayla Tetschlag and Celeste Hoewisch, now playing in Europe. Look for the fourth item, “Green Bay isn’t going away,” and another mention further down in the column – click here.

Also, it was nother week, another jump in the national rankings for the unbeaten UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team. The Phoenix climbed two spots the week of Jan. 9 to No. 12 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. (They’re No. 14 in the AP Top 25.) Take a look.
