Office of Outreach strikes new partnership with Packers

After decades of sharing a community, a name and a reputation for excellence, UW-Green Bay and the Green Bay Packers will be sharing much more this year through a new partnership forged between Outreach and Adult Access and the Packers organization. The partnership provides access to advertising opportunities with the Packers in both print and online media, and grants the University far-reaching access to the team’s logos and team marks. “This new partnership represents a tremendous opportunity for Outreach, the Adult Degree Program, and the entire University to more fully connect with the Green Bay community and to get the word out to adult and distance learners about learning opportunities at UW-Green Bay,” says Steve VandenAvond, Associate Provost for Outreach and Adult Access. Officials say the power of the Packers’ internationally known (and well-regarded) brand has long been a positive for the city and its major institutions including UW-Green Bay, and the new partnership invites the University to be more strategic and direct in capitalizing on that name recognition.

Entire campus can share in partnership prestige, and ‘UW-Green Bay Day’
While Outreach was the architect for the agreement, this partnership presents far-reaching opportunities across the University community. “The entire University will have access to the Packers’ logos and team marks for approved use,” says Sue Bodilly, Director of Marketing. “With appropriate approval from the Packers, any area of the University can use the Packers logo and the moniker, ‘Higher Education Partner of the Green Bay Packers’ on marketing and promotional materials.” Anyone in a UW-Green Bay capacity who wishes to use the Packers’ team marks should contact Sue Bodilly, who will go through the appropriate channels with the Packers. This includes letterhead, electronic messaging, social messaging, print materials, etc. The University will also join with the Packers to promote several events, such as a communitywide “UW-Green Bay Day” to be held in the Lambeau Field atrium. The date and time is still to be determined. (More on this in a later Log).

Green Bay Packers Branding Guide to be shared
As expected from one of the most widely recognized professional sports franchise in the world, the Packers have very specific guidelines regarding logo usage. A Green Bay Packers Branding Guide will be shared with campus designers and marketing personnel. As stated above. ALL uses of the Packers logo have to be approved by the Green Bay Packers. UW-Green Bay can expect a 24-to-48 hour turn-around for approval.
