Joint Finance Committee’s action on UW System budget

As we told you here yesterday, the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee took up the issue of UW System funding during its meeting Thursday (May 23). As expected, the committee voted in favor of a two-year tuition freeze for all UW System schools. The budget advanced by JFC also cuts state funding to the System by $66 million over two years, and requires the reallocation of $78 million for new initiatives and other expenses. UW System President Kevin Reilly released a statement on the action late yesterday, which we’ve linked to below. UW-Green Bay officials will have further details soon, and will share additional information as it becomes available. Read Reilly’s statement.
