Faculty Note: Nursing publication

A new article published in the October 2014 edition of the journal Online Learning, titled “Collaboration in E-Learning: A Study Using the Flexible E-Learning Framework,” is co-authored by faculty members Chris Vandenhouten, Susan Gallagher-Lepak and Janet Reilly of UW-Green Bay’s Professional Program in Nursing, along with UW-Extension and Penn State instructional designer Penny Ralston-Berg. The article highlights the collaborative roles and activities in teaching online, and references the well-known paradigm shift with online learning of “sage on the stage” to “guide on the side.” Less known, the authors contend, is the required shift from a “lone ranger” to being part of a “superhero team” that integrates the work of a variety of professionals including instructional designers, multimedia specialists, editors, and production specialists.
