Furlong offers take on town halls as Ryan stumps in Ashwaubenon

Wisconsin continues to live up to its political hotbed reputation this week, with both major-party vice presidential candidates stumping in the Badger state. On Wednesday (Sept. 12), Janesville native Paul Ryan visited Ashwaubenon for a town hall meeting — and state media reached out to our own Scott Furlong for some hometown analysis. Such town hall events are effective because they are more intimate than other rallies and allow candidates to speak directly with voters, Furlong told Gannett Wisconsin Media reporter Ben Jones. “They are responding very directly to individual questions,” Furlong said. “It’s a way to try to humanize the candidate and make them appear as (if) they are talking to individuals.” Full story.
