Associate Prof. Brian Sutton’s original musical, “Searching for Romeo,” met with great local acclaim last summer, playing four sold-out performances to positive reviews at the Weidner Center. A year later, Sutton is taking his show on the road after “Romeo” was selected to be performed as a staged reading during the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Sutton, English and Humanistic Studies, is producing the New York production, which will stage two shows Friday, July 19 and one show Sunday, July 21 at The Studio at Theatre Row in Manhattan. Local actors Brandon and Joy Rockstroh, who played lead roles in last summer’s play, will have smaller parts in the New York production, which features actors who have acted on Broadway and in first national tours for various productions. R ead more about Sutton’s play, and his path to New York.
