Admissions’ Jones offers advice for families navigating college search

UW-Green Bay Admissions’ Jennifer Jones offered some practical advice for families discussing the right fit for college in a special section printed last weekend in the Post-Crescent of Appleton. Jones advised letting the students take the lead in owning their college search, including the campus visit process. “If I would give advice on a campus visit, it would be to the parents to let the student talk,” Jones said. “I think parents want to be helpful and they want to ask questions, but you can have a conversation in the mini-van on the way to school. This is your thing.” Jones also recommended students consider their own strengths and weaknesses when looking at schools, relying on what’s going to work for them instead of thinking about what others say.
