Faculty note: Parrillo publication

Assistant Prof. Adam Parrillo of Urban and Regional Studies has published the article “Magnetizing Public Education: The Lingering Effects of Magnet Schools in the Cincinnati Public School District” in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education. The article includes information gathered as part of Parrillo’s doctoral research. It examines the racial and socioeconomic patterns of historical school choice policies (magnet schools) within Cincinnati Public Schools and also explores the development of magnet schools, fundamental in the emergence of contemporary school choice, in the context of the political economic project of Neoliberalism.
