Profs. Baker, Kersten chosen UW System Teaching ‘Fellow’ and ‘Scholar’

Faculty members Andy Kersten of Social Change and Development and Kimberly Baker of Human Biology have been chosen by the UW System Office of Professional and Instructional Development Council for the 2010-11 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Scholars Program.

Baker, an assistant professor, has been named a “Teaching Fellow.” That initiative gives early-career educators an opportunity for intensive inquiry into teaching and learning. Kersten, an associate professor, has been named UW-Green Bay’s 2010-2011 “Teaching Scholar.” That initiative allows tenured faculty to pursue advanced projects in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Scholars are selected for their outstanding teaching from among the UW System faculty and academic staff. Teaching Fellows and Scholars are expected to serve as leaders and mentors in campus and UW System SoTL work. Both programs provide financial resources and S&E assistance to participating faculty under the auspices of OPID, the UW System Office of Professional and Instructional Development.
