UW-Green Bay Music, local artists and high schools to present Handel’s ‘Messiah’

More than 200 UW-Green Bay and community musicians will join together Saturday, Dec. 6 to present George Frederic Handel’s classic Messiah at the Weidner Center for the Performing arts. Conducted by Associate Prof. Randall Meder, the 7:30 p.m. performance of Handel’s renowned work will feature the collaborative efforts of the UW-Green Bay Chorale and Concert Choir, as well as a festival orchestra featuring UW-Green Bay faculty members, UW-Green Bay students and professional musicians from across Northeastern Wisconsin. The Green Bay Choral Artists ensemble also will perform with the group, along with choirs from Green Bay East and Ashwaubenon high schools. The evening’s performance will begin with Beethoven’s Fantasy for Piano, Choir and Orchestra, Op. 80, performed by UW-Green Bay Assistant Prof. Michael Rector.
