More details on campus/community Kwanzaa event, Dec. 7

Campus and community alike are invited to celebrate Kwanzaa Saturday, Dec. 7, when UW-Green Bay, St. Norbert College and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College host a celebration event from 3-5 p.m. in the University Union’s Phoenix Room. Attendees can enjoy music, dancing and food while learning about the holiday’s origins, rites and symbols. UW-Green Bay Assistant Prof. Tohoro Francis Akakpo, Social Work, will deliver the event’s keynote address, while student Tresavoya Blake will serve as co-emcee with Akeem Edmonds of St. Norbert College. The Nia, Inc. Dance Group, founded by Juliet Cole of the Institute for Learning Partnership, will perform with a group of students from Green Bay’s Keller Elementary School. Light snacks and refreshments will be served after the program. Attendees are invited to come early for a free African jewelry-making workshop, which begins at 2 p.m. in the 1965 Room. Read more.
