The annual UW-Green Bay Faculty Development Conference will be held Jan. 24, 2014 in the University Union. This year’s theme is “Assessment as a Tool for Change.” The keynote address, “Assessment in Higher Education: Useful, Sensible, Feasible, and Acceptable to Accreditors” will be given by Barbara E. Walvoord, Ph.D., professor emerita of the University of Notre Dame, who will summarize the current state of assessment nationally including its promise and dangers. She will describe what higher education institutions need to do and ways to make the process sensible and useful. She will present a basic, no frills assessment plan for departments and general education with an emphasis on using the assessment data for action that enhances student learning. You must register to attend. There is no charge — choice of lunch is included. To register, visit www.uwgb.edu/catl/conference.
