National History Day is in need of volunteer judges and room monitors for the 2010 competition to be held at UW-Green Bay on April 10. The University is one of several Wisconsin institutions to host a National History Day regional site and provide invaluabl academic enrichment opportunities for students in sixth through twelfth grades. Students research history topics and create exhibits, documentaries, web sites, performances or papers.

small-historyGroups of two or three judges will evaluate a series of entries in a particular category. The principle role of the judges is to provide positive critical feedback through both oral and written evaluations. The top entries chosen by the judges will advance to the state level of the History Day Program. A complete orientation session will be provided for judges prior to the event.

Campus participation in the annual event is coordinated by the Cofrin Library and UW-Green Bay faculty members in history and related fields. They ask members of the campus community to “Please give of your time and talent to help make History Day a success for the students! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to share in the enthusiasm, creativity, and scholarship of Wisconsin’s history students and teachers. You will truly find it a rewarding experience!”
