On Tuesday night an audience of several dozen gathered at the Mauthe Center to listen to a discussion of terrorism in Spain led by Prof. Cristina Ortiz (Humanistic Studies and Spanish) and UW-Green Bay Resident Scholar and writer Luisa Etxenike. The event was organized by former UW-Green Bay international student Rodrigo Caribano. Etxenike’s last public engagement in Wisconsin will take place Friday, Oct. 25, at the Center for European Studies at UW-Madison. Her talk is titled “Palabras Mayores. Escribiendo en el Pais Vasco. Violencia, Memoria y heroes cotidianos” (Bigger Words: Writing in the Basque Country — Violence, Memory and Daily Heroes).
On Nov. 1 Etxenike will return to Spain after having taught in two courses offered by the Spanish and English programs at UW-Green Bay. Her visit was made possible through the assistance of the offices of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Provost and Humanistic Studies.
