Long title, good topic, relatively short webinar

A new type of graduate degree, the Professional Science Master’s, will be the topic of a national webinar from 2 to 3 p.m. CDT this Wednesday (Oct. 9). The group UW-Green Bay viewing site is MAC Hall 137. The webinar is presented by the national Council on Undergraduate Research. Organizers say the new master’s have emerged the last decade with the rapid expansion of undergraduate research. Combining coursework in science and business, internships in a business or public sector enterprise, and a final project incorporating research elements, such programs are seen as attractive options for undergrad researchers. Panelists for Wednesday’s webinar are Elizabeth Ambos, Larry Wimmers and Michael Dorff of CUR along with Joaquin Carbonara, SUNY-Buffalo, and Marilyn Wells, Minnesota State-Mankato. Incidentally, the full and formal title of the webinar is “Undergraduate Research as a Pipeline to Professional Science Master’s Programs: Applying Undergraduate Researcher’s Skills to Degrees that Connect Academia to Industry.”
