Prof. Merkel seeks volunteers for Echinacea study

UW-Green Bay community members are being sought out to participate in a study on Echinacea. Echinacea is a herb used by humans to reduce the severity and/or duration of respiratory infections, including the common cold, but the effects on the immune system are poorly understood. Participants in this study will take either Echinacea or placebo-control capsules three times daily for seven days to explore the effects on the immune system. Pre-treatment and post-treatment health surveys and blood samples (4-6 teaspoons) are required. There is no monetary compensation for study participation and participants’ identity will remain confidential. Participation is voluntary and may be discontinued at any time. Please contact Associate Prof. Brian Merkel (Biology) for details/questions: merkelb@uwgb.edu.
