Wireless, all over! But you’ll have to re-set your connections

Sure, UW-Green Bay has had wireless “hot spots” in the past, but with this fall’s move to more universal access, better service and enhanced security has arrived! There’s one reminder, however:  Anyone with a wireless device is going to have to make a few minor adjustments to be able to connect for the first time, even if they’ve accessed the wireless network in the past.

The difference now is that it’s a secured, password-protected connection. Kevin Boerschinger of CIT says the service — Wi-Fi Protected Access Enterprise, WPA-E or WPA2-E — requires faculty, staff, and student users to have a campus network username and password. Encrypted wireless connections make it more difficult for others to “listen in” on your wireless conversation. Once you’ve configured your device to use “UWGB Wireless.” you’ll be logged in automatically when connecting in the future.  How-to instructions are online, with directions for operating systems including Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Macintosh 10.5 and 10.6, Android Mobile Device, iPhone and iPad, and Windows Phone 7.
