For a semester-ending project, students in Prof. Kim Nielsen’s “Waging War Waging Peace” First Year Seminar experience, gave a hand to a University neighbor, Freedom House Ministries. Freedom House provides temporary shelter for families and is located across the Highway 54/57 Interchange.
Aided by the Wisconsin Student Public Interest Research Group (WISPIRG), Nielson’s class planned the menu, shopped for groceries and prepared a meal for about 40 people at Freedom House in early December. They also shopped for and shared holiday presents with the residents — all at their own expense.
