The April 24 meeting of the UW-Green Bay Council of Trustees/Foundation Board of Directors had a busy agenda… and a little bit of fun.
A highlight was recognition of close friends and former classmates Rick Chernick and Jim Wochinske. A short video was shown in which current students, fellow alumni and others enthusiastically thanked the Class of 1974 graduates for their sponsorship of the Chernick/Wochinske Challenge. Their pledge to match Alumni Phone-a-Thon gifts up to $50,000 launched a wildly successful alumni campaign that, including their gifts, yielded nearly $150,000 in new or additional giving from UW-Green Bay alumni.
Also fun: Board Chairman Lou LeCalsey took a moment to recognize four Trustees, CEOs all, who had recently achieved “cover model” status on national or regional magazines. TaylorMade CEO Mark King ’81 was featured on the cover of the Inside UW-Green Bay magazine. Associated Bank’s Philip Flynn was on American Banker, The Green Bay Packers’ Mark Murphy on Bloomberg Businessweek, and Craig Dickman ’82 on Insight business magazine.
