Humana takes ‘recruitment partner’ honors
When Humana, a health insurance provider, decided to partner with UW-Green Bay Career Services nine years ago, it was a commitment both organizations took seriously.
As acknowledgment for Humana’s long-lasting commitment to UWGB students and graduates, Career Services presented the company with the 2012 Recruitment Partner of the Year award. Humana representatives were presented with small tokens of appreciation as well as a plaque at a reception in February.
The commitment from Humana and the collaboration between the two entities doesn’t stop there. Humana is currently in the process of creating two scholarships for UW-Green Bay students. Linda Peacock-Landrum, Director of Career Services at UW-Green Bay, is thrilled with the idea.
“Humana is truly dedicated to supporting our mission and partnering with our campus to bring talent into their organization,”Peacock-Landrum said. “I have enjoyed working closely with a valued colleague at Humana for the past 18 months to expand and grow our partnership,”
Since 2004, Humana has posted more than 100 jobs through UWGB, participated in job fairs and conducted numerous campus interviews. In the past 18 months alone, Humana has hired more than 15 UW-Green Bay alumni. Corporate wide, Humana employs more than 80 UW-Green Bay alumni.
In August 2011, the Humana leadership in Green Bay wanted to strengthen their relationship with UW-Green Bay and build on the existing foundation.
After leaders from both organizations met, Humana associates expanded their involvement to include class presentations, program support for mock interview day, etiquette lunch and panel participation. They also served as a sponsor of services and programs with Career Services, as well as Business Week with the Cofrin School of Business for 2012 and 2013.
Christine Ness, Manager of Service Operations at Humana, said the company’s executive team is very thankful to be recognized as the 2012 Recruitment Partner of the Year.
“We are excited about the high caliber graduates we have hired from UW-Green Bay as a result of the partnership,” Ness said. “UW-Green Bay does a great job of preparing students for a prosperous future. All of us at Humana are enthusiastic about our continued partnership and the new innovative ways we plan to partner in the future. We look forward to hiring more graduates from UW-Green Bay now and in the years to come.”
UW-Green Bay Career Services chooses an organization or community member to receive the annual award based on their exceptional commitment to Career Services’ mission including creating learning opportunities for UW-Green Bay students in their field of study, supporting professional growth and career development of students/alumni and being actively involved in recruiting students and alumni for such opportunities.
The award was established in 2006 and first awarded in 2007, with past recipients including Integrys (formerly Wisconsin Public Service), Schenck, Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Wisconsin, Glen Tilot with Brown County Human Services and Schreiber Foods.
