Gracious in their comments, and humbled by their recognition, the honorees of the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Awards, April 25, had only great things to say about their UW-Green Bay experience.
Distinguished Alumni Award winners Chris Stix ’76 and Barbara Polich ’72 have carried on a passion for the environment that was ignited at UW-Green Bay in the 1970s. Stix, a retired Morgan Stanley analyst, has set up a foundation to help families appreciate nature, and Polich continues her birding hobby during breaks from her career as a commercial litigation and intellectual property lawyer.
Paula Fleurant ’75 and ’86, who spent many years on campus, earning two degrees at UW-Green Bay, teaching in a number of the academic programs, and serving many years on the Alumni Association board, was honored, thanking the University of her interdisciplinary experiences. She is a retired quality care manager at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay
As recipients of Distinguished Alumni Awards, they were judged by the selection committee to have distinguished themselves in their professional work, career accomplishments and community involvement.
Receiving Outstanding Recent Alumni Awards were Joel Hansen ’01, a supervisor with Schenck Business Solutions of Green Bay and Justin Rebman’06 a representative and college unit director for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Green Bay.
